  1. IMPORTANT NOTE

  3.     All of the icons in the archive are saved with 8 bitplanes. This has two
  4.     consequences, first, they will use the right colors under any Amiga OS/
  5.     Workbench version, in any screen depth, and second, they take a lot of
  6.     disk space and especially RAM.
  7.  
  8.     The dockicons in this archive, for example, are approximately 4 KB in size,
  9.     EACH. While that might not seem like much, consider that there are over
  10.     30 of them. That is 120 KB of precious chip memory.
  11.  
  12.     As a solution I suggest you optimise the icons to match the number of
  13.     bitplanes of your Workbench screen. If you, like me, use only 8 color WB,
  14.     the memory requirements of 3 bitplane icons is less than half of the 8
  15.     bitplane versions.

  17.     A good utility for dropping the amount of bitplanes is OptIcon, available
  18.     on Aminet.
